Amplified (2022)

Program Notes:

Inspired by my friend’s quote, “Everything feels amplified when there is a time limit,” Amplified explores three amplifications of sound. The first presents musical amplification in small cells through a juxtaposed motivic idea of quickly moving crescendo patterns. The second movement, driven by the Bass Clarinet solo, gradually increases in dynamic activity as the movement progresses. The final movement experiments with textural amplification.
