Rush Hour (2021)

Program Notes:

One of the most exciting parts of being a composer is meeting and working with performers that are truly inspiring. I had a chance to chat with the ensemble members of the Front Porch—Ben, Maddy, Karalyn, and Jacob—before starting on the piece. After our meeting, I was determined to write a fun, exciting work that reflected their personalities as a group. Rush Hour paints the busy hustle-bustle energy of city traffic that I found myself missing during the pandemic. When you are in traffic you anticipate getting to a certain destination. Whether you are on your way to attend an evening of a beautiful concert, meeting up with friends, or even just getting home from work, there is excitement in the energy of being in the city
